Dear Parents & Wrestlers,
It’s November, and I’m sure many of you have been looking forward to wrestling season with an eagerness that matches the sport’s intensity.
This post is to inform you that I have decided to step down from the position of wrestling coach for the 2013-2014 school year. This was a tough decision for me, and one that I, for lack of a better term, “wrestled” with for quite some time before settling on it.
We have been searching for a replacement coach but have not been able to find one. As far as I know, Caroline Middle School will not have a wrestling team this year.
Coach Swanton (CHS) wanted me to communicate to you that any parent who is interested in coaching should contact him; his email is email@example.com.
Coach Swanton also wanted to notify any wrestlers who are in 8th grade that they are welcome to ask him about wrestling for the JV team at Caroline High School.
Continue to stay focused and be the best you can be.
Wrestling season will be here before you know it! Start working on that running and those pushups.
Also, if you have any wrestling shoes that won’t fit you, please let me know! Someone else may be able to use them.
Look forward to seeing you this year once the season starts!
The winter sports banquet has been rescheduled Thursday, March 21st at 6pm.
Please let me know if you can’t make it.
Refreshments will be served, but we will not be doing a dinner-type meal this year.
The awards banquet for winter sports (basketball, cheer-leading, and wrestling) will be here at Caroline Middle School on March 7th at 6pm.
First, thanks for a great season everyone! Parents, thanks for your support for the late nights and other requirements a sport involves.
In the next few weeks we will have the Winter Sports Banquet. Stay tuned for details on when it will be.
For those who haven’t attended a sport banquet before, it has been potluck-style in the past, with each athlete bringing a dish to share.

Updates on the last few days of the season:
– Thursday 1/31: No practice (student holiday).
– Friday 2/1 @ 4pm: Match at St. Christopher
Because Friday was changed to a student holiday, wrestlers will need to find a ride to CMS.
We will still be taking a bus to the match and will be leaving at 2pm.
Please be at CMS by 1:45.
If parents need to drop off students, they can do so beginning at noon.
– Monday, 2/4 @ 5:30 Home match vs. Locust Grove (at CHS)
I just received word from the coach in New Kent that their county is being cautious and canceling the tournament due to the impending weather.
I will try to make some phone calls Friday and let everyone know. If you see this, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and let me know.
The home match against Locust Grove has been rescheduled for Monday, February 4th at 5:30pm.
Have a great weekend!
There was a misunderstanding on my part about why the buses fell through.
Because of the late return time, we will need to cancel the trip.
Thank you for those willing to drive and support our kids with this. 🙂
Orange County, where Locust Grove Middle School is located, is letting out early today in anticipation of inclement weather. Our match is postponed and is in the process of being rescheduled.
SATURDAY FIELD TRIP
Our plans for taking a bus for the VMI wrestling match has fallen through. If we’re still going to the match, we will need 3-4 parents to drive personal vehicles.
A letter is being sent home today. Please contact me asap if you are able to drive.
If school is closed on Friday, the trip will be canceled.
